Boca Tuya (April 10th and 11th, 2026)

Dance Victoria constantly impresses me with the wide-ranging, world class performances they bring to our city. April’s presentation of Boca Tuya sounds like it is made up of nuanced and complex choreography. I’m excited to see what this dynamic presentation will be like!
One Act Play Festival General Auditions (April 11th, 2026)

Now, what if you want to be in a show? Well, general auditions for the One Act Play Festival are April 11th, and there are over 35 roles being cast, plus opportunities to join in a technical capacity. Get all the details on the event page!
Wanna know a secret? Well, I’m not one to give the game away.
But there is a link above. You might want to check it out…
Tales from the Galaxy (April 17th – 19th, 2026)

This double header musical will feature works by Timetheft Theatre and Dead Horse Theatre, both relatively new on the Victoria scene. I’m excited to see what futuristic adventures we’ll be taken on, and the ambitious adventure of taking on not one but two new musicals will be exciting to see.
Paper Street Theatre Improv Festival (April 21st – April 25th, 2026)

Coming up is Paper Street’s Improv Theatre festival! You can either enjoy improv performers from across the country at any of five performances, or if you’re a performer yourself, there are workshops to take in as well! There are five days of programming, and if you check the link above there’s a helpful schedule to help you plan what you’re seeing.
Casey and Diana (April 21st – May 17th, 2026)

This popular show brings us to 1991, where the first hospice in Canada is supporting those with AIDS. Princess Diana’s attitudes are famously changing how people look at those with the disease. In this show, Thomas (a resident) hopes to meet Diana before he passes. This show looks into the power of connection and compassion, and is told with a balance of humour and tragedy.
Beside Myself (April 30th – May 9th, 2026)

Hapax theatre consistently brings us exciting, often Canadian, pieces that ask us to look at the world we know in new ways. Beside Myself brings together myth, science, and mourning in a telling that is sure to be sweet, funny, and wholly unique. I look forward to this difficult and beautiful piece.
Le Vent du Nord (May 1st, 2026)

Ready to kick up your heels and dance? Le Vent du Nord are, by all accounts, a fun and high energy group that brings traditional Francaphone music with a twist. Everyone talks about how much fun their shows are!
And, this all ages show has a short pre-show dance lesson so you won’t feel left behind.
Queens of Soul (May 2nd, 2026)

The Victoria Symphony has had a stellar season so far (and no, I’m not just saying that because of the powerhouse night that was Jeremy Dutcher in concert with the Symphony), which constantly reimagines what people think of when they hear “symphony”. The Queens of Soul imagine the hits of female songstresses, bringing ballads, pop hits, and more to the stage.
The Comeuppance (May 6th – 23rd, 2026)

As someone whose 20th high school reunion is… uncomfortably close, this play hits a little close to home. This Inconnu offering will look at the lives lived, and the uncomfortable truths of a group of high school friends.
I’m excited to see Genki Bear’s Misty Cozac directing, and along with some familiar Inconnu faces, new friends to the stage as well!
1000 Pieces of Pi and 52 Stories (May 22nd and 23rd, 2026)

Have I seen these shows before? Yes!
Am I excited to see these shows again? HECK YES!
Both 1000 Pieces of Pi and 52 Stories are top of their craft respectively. 1000 Pieces of Pi uses dance to move through the first 1000 digits of pi. Sounds simple? Not at all!
52 Stories is a pick of the fringe winner, delving into a memory palace so Dave Morris can memorize the 52 cards in a deck.
Expect a night of brilliant, stunning dance, and a touching and hilarious night of recollections.
ABRACADABARET Alternative Theatre (May 30th, 2026)

Looking for something a bit fun and different? The awesomely-named Abracadabaret is my pick! Get ready for a night of unique and quirky artists that’ll be sure to take you on an unexpected journey.
My fellow strange hour presenter Chiara will be presenting her clowning there – her clown was so sweet and quirky!
One Act Play Festival (June 2nd-6th, 2026)

And culminating in the auditions above, the One Act Play Festival runs from June 2nd-6th. It’s always a sellout, so keep your eyes peeled and get your tickets as soon as they’re available. Every night features different one act plays, so you’re sure to find something new to you!
Ancient Egypt: Obsessed with Life (Opening June 5th, 2026)

I’m sure I’m not the only person who had a childhood obsession with ancient Egypt, right? Regardless of if your childhood focus is just as strong, or a little waned, we can all agree the culture and history of this time will be fascinating to learn more about.
Oliver! (June 19th – 28th, 2026)

I truly believe that Oliver! is such a great introduction to theatre (and musical theatre especially) for younger audience members. It’s a fun show with so many fact paced songs that get even the most curmudgeonly viewer can’t help but get wrapped up in. Theatre Al Dente is bringing a production of Oliver! to the stage this June, and I’m sure there will be so much to love about this show.
