Article: UK plastics sent for recycling in Turkey dumped and burned, Greenpeace finds (The Guardian)

Plastics aren’t sustainable. Most plastics aren’t recyclable, no matter what we are told. This excellent episode gives a good insight into how badly recycling plastic doesn’t work.

Longform Podcast: Unascertained (TVO)

When the iOS update crashed my podcast library, this was one of the podcasts that I absolutely needed to find again. This is an honest, heartbreaking look at how the prison system failed a man in crisis.

Another look at the prison system in Canada that I have appreciated is Life Jolt.

Article: The Fruit Machine: Why every Canadian should learn about this country’s ‘gay purge’ (CBC)

This is a sad period of Canadian history. While Justin Trudeau did make an apology, the use of this machine was such a farce of justice it would seem absurd if there wasn’t proof it was used.

Activist Group: Patriotic Millionaires

This group made news recently by protesting outside Jeff Bezos’ house. Who they are and what they do is simple and non-controversial: they are ultra wealthy and they believe that the ultra wealthy should pay a fair amount of taxes.

If you make more than one million annually and/or have more than five million in assets, this group welcomes you to join!

But in all seriousness, I appreciate that there is a group of millionaires and billionaires pointing out the logical flaw in how little the ultra wealthy pay in taxes.

Article: Tales from a Disabled Theatre School Grad (Intermission)

This perspective is so important to hear. Theatre school is so often assumed to be a feelings-filled, welcoming to all environment. More and more, stories are coming out that the safe place of theatre school is only safe for the attractive, able bodied, white students. It’s imperative that we listen to the voices of all students.

Article: This floating ‘continent’ is self-sustainable and cleans the ocean (EuroNews)

My understanding is that this is still in the design phase, but what an incredible possibility to clean our oceans!

Fiction Podcast: Soft Voice (QCode)

Generally, fiction podcasts aren’t typically my favourites. There are a few that I like, a smaller handful that I loved, but very few I’ll recommend. Soft Voice is incredibly unique, the sound mixing is exceptional, and the story did take me for a ride. I still don’t know if I liked it or not, but I’m going to recommend it!

Please note that Soft Voice deals with mental health issues, violence, and death.

Nail Polish: ORLYxKelli Marissa

I have been waiting for this collection since Kelli Marissa hinted at it months ago (it didn’t help that shipping took foreverrrrrrr), but it was well worth the wait!

I’ve tried Kelli’s Solar Flare first and the colour is perfection! Bright with a blue shift, this is unique and fun and I absolutely love it! Can’t wait to try out the other two!

A top down image of my hands. I am wearing a bright purple nail polish.
